How it came about

After showcasing my hoverboards with the @BTTFCAR Delorean Time Machine at an outdoor cinema showing of Back To The Future, I reached out to the owner Steven to see if I could take some measurements of the prop from his car.  

What happed next was amazing as he kindly lent me his original Mr Fusion... Yes I know a Mr Fusion that was used at universal studios in Hollywood, as you can imagine I was a little excited and all he said was don’t break it.. no pressure then!!.  

After a few conversations Steven reached out to some of his contacts and I was blown away to have Gary Weaver II ( who was the original builder of his prop and anyone in the prop making world will know how great Gary’s work is!)  give his permission to use his and help guide me with suggested improvements to help make the build even better.  

After several reworks and hours of carving, sculpting and sanding it was finally ready for casting . This was a tricky process but after a failed first attempt i saw where I went wrong  and made the corrections I needed. I had already converted a vintage Krups 223 coffe grinder ( this is the same as the film ) so we was ready to put it all together. 

As you can see from the images I added a little LED remote light just to give a little extra. 

On a personal note I would like to thank both Steven Wickenden and Gary Weaver II for all of their help and permission to enable me to recreate the Mr Fusion Prop. Without their support it simple would have not been possible.
